Want to know what the fastest GeForce 6800Ultra in existence will do for you in games? We show what the BFGTech GeForce 6800Ultra OC with Water Cooling can do for you in real gaming situations.
We recently took a look at BFGTech’s GeForce 6800Ultra OC which takes a 6800Ultra and overclocks the core by default. As you can see from the review, this video card is a two slot video card that is air cooled with a heatsink and fan. The BFGTech GeForce 6800Ultra OC overclocks the core from 400MHz to 425MHz. In our overclocking tests of that video card we did manage to achieve a 35MHz increase, getting up to 460MHz completely stable and air cooled.
But what if there was an option to water cool this video card? Well, it just so happens BFGTech offers a water cooled solution! Not only is this 6800Ultra water cooled, but it is also an “OC” part that carries a much higher default core speed. Can you say 470MHz? That's right, the BFGTech GeForce 6800Ultra OC with Water Block comes with a standard 470MHz core frequency.
Above you see a unique "whitebox" packaging that will adorn some of the newest BFGTech products. Depending on where you purchase them, the packaging might be whitebox, or it might be a more traditional retail package. Either way, the cards inside are exactly the same.
The minimum power requirement for the BFGTech GeForce 6800U OC with Water Block is a 480W power supply.
As you can see, the waterblock comes pre-installed so you do not have to do anything except hook up your hoses. It is amazing how much space is saved by having water cooling on the video card versus an air cooled heatsink fan unit. The RAM modules are passively cooled with heatsinks. This video card requires two Molex power connectors for power and the video card does take up two slots.
The waterblock is secured using a brace that connects through the PCB. Arctic Silver 5 is used as the thermal paste for the waterblock.
Two DVI ports are on board along with TV-Out. Inside the package are some hose fittings in case you need them.
Included in the package are two Molex splitter cables and two DVI to VGA adapters. There are two CDs and a quick install guide along with a thank you letter for choosing this very high-end video card.
